Frequently asked

Questions buyers ask before signing.

Pricing, timelines, ownership, security, scope. If you don't find what you're looking for, the answer is one short email away.

How much does a commission cost?

Each engagement is fixed-price, scoped per project. Most builds land between £12,500 and £25,000 depending on complexity. Pricing is given in writing as part of the scoping conversation; there are no day rates and no surprise invoices. An optional monthly retainer covers monitoring, model upgrades, and small adjustments after handover.

How long does a build take?

Eight to twelve weeks from kick-off to handover for the typical commission. Recruitment-shaped briefs that begin with a two-week prototype add a few extra weeks at the front. Weekly check-ins against a written scope mean you see progress, not just a final demo.

Who owns the code after handover?

You do. Source code, documentation, runbooks, and infrastructure-as-code are committed to your own Git repository on day one and remain yours after the engagement ends. We do not retain rights to reuse code we ship for one client in another client's system.

Where does our data live?

In your own cloud tenant. Production systems are deployed inside your AWS, Azure, or on-premise environment. We hold no client production data after handover. For sector-specific commitments (SRA-aligned for law firms, Caldicott-aligned for healthcare), see our security and compliance page.

Do you sign NDAs and Data Processing Agreements?

Yes. NDAs are signed before any specifics are shared on a scoping call. A Data Processing Agreement that complies with UK GDPR is signed before any production data is touched. Procurement teams typically have what they need within two business days; we can complete CAIQ, SIG-Lite, or a custom security questionnaire on request.

What happens if the system breaks after handover?

Every build comes with a 30-day post-install warranty covering anything that was working at handover and stops working without your team changing it. After the warranty, the optional monthly retainer covers monitoring, alerting, and fixes. With the retainer or without, the source code is yours and any competent engineer can pick it up.

Can we start with a smaller proof of concept?

Yes. Recruitment-shaped commissions begin with a two-week prototype against your real data, fixed-price. If the prototype lands, we scope the full system. If it doesn't, we part ways with no commitment beyond the prototype fee. Other verticals can opt into the same pattern on request.

Why a small studio instead of a Big Four consultancy?

A Big Four roadmap and a deck typically cost more than our entire build. We ship working software, not slides. The engineer who scopes your brief writes the code and stays through handover. There are no account managers, no offshore handoff teams, and no internal escalation chains between you and the build.

What's not in scope?

We don't sell SaaS subscriptions or per-seat licences. We don't take on pure data-strategy or research engagements without a build attached. We don't accept work where the buyer expects a vendor-managed platform that we keep running indefinitely on our infrastructure; ownership transfer is the model.

What if our needs change after handover?

If the change is small and the retainer is active, it's covered. If the change is substantial, we scope a follow-on commission with the same fixed-price approach. Because you own the source, you also have the option of taking it to another engineer entirely, and the runbook makes that handover possible without us.

Email a one-paragraph version of your brief and we'll answer directly. No pitch deck, no sales follow-up.
